HOW CAN A CHILD VANISH WITHOUT A TRACE?

Last night, 8-year-old Daisy Mason disappeared from a summer party at her home. No one at the party noticed her leave. Even her parents aren't sure of the last time they saw her.

DI Adam Fawley is trying to keep an open mind. But he knows that in nine cases out of ten, it's someone close to the victim.

When a pair of bloody tights is discovered, Fawley's worst suspicions are concerned.

Someone knows where Daisy is. And her time is running out.........

What an emotional rollercoaster of a book this is.  I've read many psychological thrillers over the last few years and this is definitely one of the best books I've ever read in this genre.

Featuring two of the most despicable and unlikeable parents I've ever come across in Sharon and Barry Mason.  Daisy's mother is socially insecure, vain, ungrateful and can't stand being second best - her father is a liar who is on the defensive all the time.

I was totally hooked from the first page, as the tension never lets up, there are twists and shocks, sometimes the path led one way and I thought I knew what had happened but then the author leads us to a dead end and then the trail goes another way.  Fabulous writing, very, very clever.

D.I. Fawley who leads the investigation is sometimes the voice and it feels as if he's talking to us the reader as he's discovering another clue and new theory and then we're given a little glimpse into Daisy's life before she disappeared.  It is also interspersed with random people on twitter who are judging the parents parental skills and their views of the events are quite shocking and quite damning.....trial by media.

This is a brilliant read with complex characters and an ingenious plot, and I can't wait to see what author Cara Hunter brings us next.

Special Thanks to the publishers Penguin for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book in exchange for an honest review.
